Texting

After many negotiations, speeches, notes and saving her money...Emily purchased her pink text messenger tonight. I must be old school when I think you can talk to the person in the same room as you....Emily believes texting is the only way.

Spring Break '09

We just got back from a perfect week in Walnut Creek and San Francisco. It was a last minute plan to go visit the Lisi's and it couldn't have gone any better. We had gorgeous weather, lots of family meals, swimming at the hotel, scavenger hunts, a day in San Francisco, and lots of wonderful time with special friends.

Max and Alex playing on this cool spiderweb at the park

We loved playing in the Lisi's driveway with all their amazing toys.

A pretty afternoon at Broadway Plaza--downtown Walnut Creek

Wayne and the girls at Fisherman's Wharf with Alcatraz in the background

Sunny San Francisco

Sharing a yummy sundae at Ghiradele Square

The kids were amazed by the trolleys going up the hilly streets

The Golden Gate Bridge

Lombard Street

Many hours were spent at the hotel pool

Dinner at Yan Can's Restaurant

Mr. Mason

A trip to California wouldn't be complete without a trip(or two) to In N Out Burger!

Mt. Shasta......although it was a long 10 hour drive we did have some gorgeous scenery and saw a lot of Oregon and Northern California that we had never seen.

The sea lions at Pier 39 were a big hit of the trip

Max had a ball with Alex (and Mason too)....fun to have boys his age to play with.

From Hoops to Home Runs

It hasn't even been a week since basketball ended and now softball begins. Their buddy Haley plays on both teams also. The best part is it wasn't raining tonight.

3.14 Pie Day

Celebrate Pi Day!

Pi, Greek letter (pi), is the symbol for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi = 3.1415926535... Pi Day is celebrated by math enthusiasts around the world on March 14th. http://www.piday.org/
I myself could care less but my husband is beyond excited for Pi day!

Basketball Season Comes To A Close

Emily & Morgan had their last basketball game today. They had a huge cheering section of Grandma Tina, Katie, Anna and Emily's 4th grade teacher Miss Duval.

There's Hope

With all the news of the recession....I feel that this song is a good reminder that there is Hope. Below are the lyrics and you can listen to the song on the playlist on the right side of the blog.

"There's Hope"
India Aire

[Verse 1:]
Back when I had a little
I thought that I needed a lot
A little was over rated,
but a lot was a little too complicated
You see-Zero didn't satisfy me
A million didn't make me happy
That's when I learned a lesson
That it's all about your perception
Hey-are you a pauper or a superstar
So you act, so you feel, so you are
It ain't about the size of your car
It's about the size of the faith in your heart
[Chorus:]
There's hope
It doesn't cost a thing to smile
You don't have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that
[repeat]
here's hope
[Verse 2:]
Off in the back country of Brazil
A met a young brother that made me feel
That I could accomplish anything.
You see just like me he wanted to sing
He had no windows and no doors
He lived a simple life and was extremely poor
On top of all of that he had no eye sight,
but that didn't keep him from seein' the light
He said, what's it like in the USA,
and all I did was complain
He said-livin' here is paradise
He taught me paradise is in your mind
You know that
[Chorus]
[Bridge:]
Every time I turn on the T.V. (There's Hope)
Somebody's acting crazy (There's Hope)
If you let it, it will drive you crazy (There's Hope)
but I'm takin' back my power today (There's Hope)
Gas prices they just keep on rising (There's Hope)
The government they keep on lying
but we gotta keep on surviving
Keep living our truth and do the best we can do

[Chorus]
Stand up for your rights [echo]

Keep shining your light [echo]
And show the world your smile [echo]

[Chorus]

Basketball, Pizza, Cards & Laughter

Today was spent watching Emily, Morgan, Maddie & Pey's basketball games. The girls played really well and the coaches didn't do too bad themselves. Then we all headed over to the Raleighs for pizza. We had to say goodbye to Jeri...she leaves early in the morning. It will seem weird to have her gone. Mom sticks around for a couple more days so the Invasion isn't totally gone.

Day Two

Today started with some shopping and lunch at PF Changs. Everyone came over here for dinner tonight. The kids wanted Mom and Jeri to do the fit test on the Wii. Jeri was happy with her score until Lin Sue did hers and was 20 years younger. The happiest I have seen her in awhile....and she wanted a picture for proof.

They're Here!

Mom & Jeri are here for a "mini-Invasion". Jill gets the hostess award for the day. She served up a yummy taco salad for lunch and we even got a few card games in.

Tonight we got the whole crew minus Wayne together for dinner. Jill whipped up a delicious Rachel Ray chicken dinner and the kids got to play together...it had been way too long.
