Day 9

Jill finally gets to see mom and dad! The snow hasn't stopped falling but the Raleighs bundled up and braved their way over to our house. We were ALL thrilled to see them!

We had another big surprise when Mrs. Cook....Max's preschool teacher stopped by. We hadn't see her for over a week due to school being closed so she came over to give Max a holiday hug. I think he is still stunned that his teacher was at his house and came in this crazy weather.

Artic Blast Day 8

Max and Papa shoveling

The ice that Emily is holding up is covering the 8 inches of snow. There is about a half an inch of ice over everything. The kids spent a good part of the day stomping on the snow and picking up these huge pieces of ice. Dad said he feels like this is a scene out of Antarctica.

House Arrest Day 7

The snow has been falling since early this morning. The airport has canceled it's flights for the rest of the day and we have 6 inches of snow on the back patio. The bright spot in all of this is Grandma Sue and Papa made it here safe and sound....we are thrilled for someone new to talk with and play games with.

FINALLY!

Still no school today but we managed to make it out of the house and visit the Raleighs. We were all thrilled to be out of the house and the kids were thrilled to have someone to play with.

Snow Days

Arctic storm '08 continues. We finally escaped our house today for a few hours. All of us have been house bound since Saturday night. Today we braved the icy neighborhood streets and headed for Target. We bought the kids long underwear and winter boots....they have never had either. We even went out for lunch because none of us could stand another lunch made by me in our kitchen. Tomorrow is round two of the storm and school is already canceled.

We have had lots of rosy cheeks

What things have been looking like around here....kids in blankets playing their Nintendo DS's

Max & Emily made me a Christmas tree out of Max's hands

Morgan & I are making trees out of magazines...fun way to recycle all the Christmas catalogs

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas......

The view out my bedroom window at 9am....the kids are thrilled!

Mother Daughter Brunch

The girls and I hosted a Holiday brunch for 6 of their girlfriends from school and their moms. The girls sat at the dining room table with candlelight and the fancy china. The moms ate in the kitchen with the everyday dishes! We feel fortunate to have such wonderful friends.

Ceramics

For the last couple of months I have been taking a ceramics wheel throwing class through the local community college. Thanks to Wayne for picking up Max every Thursday from preschool, I was able to spend 3 hours focused on clay. Here is one of my masterpieces :-)
